SS Mopar Muscle Visits the 2006 LA Car Show. (01/23/06)
Well, we were hoping to catch a glimpse of the new Challenger show car, but there is only one prototype and it was at the North American Auto Show in Detriot, so we were not able to see it, but hey, that did not stop us from placing a deposit on one, or from making our annual visit to the LA Car Show anyway. Here are a few pictures from the show:

Well, of course, the first place we head is to the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep area. I mean, we are "Mopar Muscle" and all.

Here is a Jeep concept vehicle that grabbed the attention of at least some of our younger visitors.

Ah yes.... a viper. Well, we don't like the new body style as much as we do the gen 1 & 2's (1993 - 2002) but hey, they are still hot, and have 500+ horsepower.

Oh.... well, the new viper coupe made a showing and we (well, at least I) like it a much better than the convert. They are getting closer to the passion that the original GTS coupe inspired.

Well, I know its 4 doors, but still the SRT-8 Chargers are impressive.

And you can get hemi callouts on the hood.

Neon replacement - the dodge caliber. Well, dodge is "daring?" to be different, but gee, I'm a bit tired of SUV mania. Give me a hot little coupe & sedan, not a mini-suv/van. Oh well, guess we'll keep the SRT-4.

Well, moving away from Mopar stuff, we come to Fords possible vision of what the mini-van/people mover future may look like.

Its been out for a few years now, but the Ford GT still looks great.

Fords new GT500 (convert in this case) is nice looking machine and will have some performance to back it up. But no independent rear suspension? Hum, that seems odd.

Moving to european exotics, here is a pic of the new Porsche Cayman. Take a light and already fantastic handling Boxster and put on a hard top to make the body even more rigid, and you have the best handling porsche yet.... the Cayman.

Continuing the "light" theme. Here is the ultra light and simple Lotus Exige. less than 2000 lbs and 190 HP (yep thats it, but still good for 13.2 in the 1/4) and you have one of the best handling cars in the world. No carpet, no fancy stuff. One of the cars on my wish list.... track day special!

Heh, forget light when you can quad turbo a motor and generate 1000 BHP and do 250+ MPH. This is the new "fastest car in the world", the $1 Million Bugatti Veyron.

I believe this was called a spyker. Another nice looking european exotic.

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed their brief tour of the 2006 LA Car show, we'll be back again next year, hopefully with some pictures of the new Challenger.
